Reiki is a Japanese healing art available in Burnaby, designed to encourage deep relaxation and restore energetic flow. Through gentle, non-invasive techniques, Reiki supports emotional clarity, reduces stress, and enhances overall well-being, offering a natural approach to balance body, mind, and spirit.

At Lumera, we offer two lineages: Usui Reiki, practiced by Caroline and Jikiden Reiki, practiced by Jessica. Both provide holistic support for nervous system regulation, clarity, and natural healing. Differentiating the two practices, Usui Reiki blends traditional Japanese roots with modern influences for a gentle, widely-practiced approach, while Jikiden Reiki stays closest to the original Japanese teachings, preserved in their pure, unaltered form.

Reiki FAQ:

  • Reiki is a gentle Japanese healing art that works with the body’s natural energy to encourage relaxation, balance, and overall well-being. Practitioners use light, non-invasive touch (or hover just above the body) to help release stress, calm the nervous system, and support the body’s natural healing processes.

  • Both Usui and Jikiden Reiki come from the original teachings of Mikao Usui. Usui Reiki, practiced by Caroline, is the most widely practiced form of Reiki worldwide, blending traditional Japanese roots with some Western influences over time. Jikiden Reiki, practiced by Jessica, has been preserved in its original Japanese form without Western adaptations, focusing on the simplicity and purity of the practice as it was directly passed down.

  • A Reiki session is deeply relaxing and non-invasive. You’ll remain fully clothed, usually lying down or seated comfortably. The practitioner will gently place their hands on or just above different areas of your body, allowing energy to flow. Many clients report feelings of warmth, calm, and clarity, as well as reduced stress and improved overall balance.
