MICRONEEDLING BURNABY

By creating micro-injuries, microneedling works to boost the reproduction of collagen & elastin, reducing fine lines, wrinkles, age spots & scarring.

Our registered acupuncturists use microneedling techniques to help improve skin texture & firming, reduce scars & hyperpigmentation, while also treating fine lines, and wrinkles. Microneedling is also uniquely positioned to help treat hair loss and thinning.

MICRONEEDLING FAQ’S

  • Microneedling is a minimally invasive, safe and natural way to improve the skins production of collagen and elastin. By causing ‘micro-traumas’, the skin responds by producing cell growth in targeted areas, thus helping to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, scarring and by promoting hair growth. It is typical to experience microneedling on the face, neck, head and décolletage.

    • Fine Lines & Wrinkles – Boosts collagen production to smooth out signs of aging.

    • Acne Scars & Other Scars – Breaks down scar tissue and promotes new skin regeneration.

    • Hyperpigmentation & Sun Damage – Evens out skin tone and reduces dark spots.

    • Stretch Marks – Helps fade stretch marks by improving skin elasticity.

    • Enlarged Pores – Reduces pore size by tightening the skin.

    • Skin Laxity – Firms and tightens sagging skin.

    • Hair Loss (Alopecia) – Stimulates hair follicles to promote hair growth.

  • At Lumera, we use the Dermapen 4 (DP4) — the most advanced microneedling device available on the market today.

The DP4 stands out for its precision, safety, and superior results. It features 16 medical-grade stainless steel needles and an industry-leading motor that delivers up to 1,920 puncture channels per second — more than any other microneedling pen. This allows for a faster, more comfortable treatment.

What makes the DP4 especially unique is its ability to treat delicate areas like around the eyes, lips, and even the nose with ease and accuracy — areas that many other devices struggle to reach. It also offers adjustable needle depth, which means we can personalize your treatment.

In short: more precision, better outcomes, less downtime. It’s simply the best — and your skin deserves the best.

  • Many extended medical plans will cover Microneedling done by a Registered Acupuncturist. Be sure to check with your provider for more details.

  • We ask that you show up to your appointment with a clean face, void of makeup if possible! We will always use micellar to remove additional oils/makeup regardless.

It’s also worth noting that we cannot perform microneedling if you have had fillers on the face within 2 weeks of your scheduled appointment.

We also recommend stopping all AHA’s 3-5 days prior to your appointment.

  • It is quite common to experience redness a few hours following your microneedling session. It’s important to allow your skin the time it needs to heal, void of direct sunlight for approximately 24 hours. It’s also recommended that you eliminate chemical topicals (including most facial moisturizers, toners etc). You are welcome to return to your normal skin care routine 3 days after.

  • Microneedling can be done a maximum of once every month or four weeks, as this is the time it takes for the skin to properly heal and regenerate from the previous session.

The number of required treatments will vary from person to person, but it is typical to see results between 1-3 sessions.
